The Only True Constant Is Change

BY JONATHAN LEE & TIM BERLAND

“The best thing you can do is the right thing;
the next best thing you can do is the wrong thing;
the worst thing you can do is nothing.”
Theodore Roosevelt

Greetings and happy New Year from the Neighborhood Gazette. May this upcoming year bring you good health, happiness and peace.

By way of introduction, we are Tim Berland and Jonathan Lee, current publishers. We assumed ownership of the Gazette last year after founder and previous owner Charlie Holcer passed away in early July, after a brief but heroic battle with pancreatic cancer. Our thoughts are with him.

Tim’s association with community publications spans 34 years, mostly as a graphic designer for numerous metro area tomes. His association with the Gazette began at its inception, when Holcer signed him on in 2005. He continues to work with several area newspapers, while expanding his talents lately to the constantly evolving world of web design. He happily lives in the Evegreen area with his wife of 22 years, Roxann, and their three children – Joshua, James and Joseph.

Jonathan, a 12-year resident of Wheat Ridge and long-time reader, came to the Gazette through a previous business venture with Tim. Upon hearing of Holcer’s passing and an immediate need for assistance in publishing the next edition, Jonathan jumped in with both feet. The opportunity to get involved in the community, provide entertainment and information has been his most rewarding career endeavor to date.

Jonathan’s background includes recruiting, staffing and web content and continues to work in the long-term health care industry. His wife Heather, also a local entrepreneur and owner of Highland’s Dance Studio, assists with the paper’s photography. They have a six-year-old daughter, Sheridan, and a new chocolate lab puppy, which has kept them very busy in the new year.

This past year brought on many challenges and opportunities, and we look to the new year as one of opportunity and growth for the Neighborhood Gazette.

Look for us to continue to reshape and tweek many aspects of the Gazette in coming months. We will also expand our online presence at ngazette.com, offering our readers even more options to keep abreast of community issues and activities.

While we may not succeed on every level, our goal is to become a true community voice for Wheat Ridge and Edgewater and a valuable marketing resource for area businesses. Please show your support by patronizing our local sponsors.

If you have any concerns, suggestions or feedback concerning anything related to the Gazette, please feel free to contact us at anytime. Our door is always open.
